Fixing This

Description
Im attempting to fix this team the right way... let me know what you think below.

I intentionally did not move Bobby Ryan because honestly the only way the contract is moved is if it is With Karlson. I do not think he should be traded in a Karlson trade because that makes Karlson's value less and Karlson is their most valuable player.

The only reason I did not trade all assets away and rebuild it is because Ottawa doesn't have their 1st rounder in 2019 so they can not be bad next season.

Colin White had 0.57 ppg in Belleville.
Craig Anderson is 37 and had an .898 sv% last year.
Mikhail Sergachev had a 70.2 oZS% last year.
Yanni Gourde had 1.66 S/gp last year (16-17 goal pace with usual shooting), had a negative Fenwick Rel, and had an 11.8 oiSh% to go with a 105.6 PDO. He's also 26, so he's not developing.
Anton Stralman is 31, his career high in points is 39, and he's had 40 points combined over the last two seasons. His Corsi Rel and Fenwick Rel were also both negative last year.
Those 1sts are most likely in the last ten picks of the first round, too late to be a franchise-changing player in all likelihood.
Mikkel Boedker is 28 (at the end of his prime) and had 37 points this year. When he was playing top-line minutes, he was getting about 50 points.
Ottawa sans Karlsson needs a franchise changing savior. You added a couple solid middle-six wingers, a solid 2RD, and an unproven as hell LD who should probably not be given top-pair minutes this early in his career. None of the picks are adding a savior, none of the players can be flipped for one or are likely to become one.

Only way to get a savior is through the draft any team trying to get Karlson is trying to win the cup they aern't gonna trade away a savior for karlson. This team by all means isnt good but they are good enough to not finish in the last 5 teams in the league

OTT 1st. That 1st could easily become Jack Hughes. COL wants to win now and needs a big boost to contend for a cup.

There's no point, from a GMs perspective, to finishing above 31st overall if you aren't going to make the playoffs.

There is if you don't have your first round pick. Why just hand Colorado Jack Hughes?

Karlsson for OTT 1st. You really think a win-now team with a questionable blueline that got trounced in the playoffs last year says no?

Much better idea than anything here. Plus, upping your standings position slightly devalues your 2nd-7th round picks. Given that missing the playoffs anywhere does nothing to help you win a cup, or a playoff series, or any form of recognized award, I'd say it's still better to #Losefor32

That is a sunk asset at this point, limiting your return for Karlsson to guys who contribute now vs the best long term option isn't any better than lessening your return by attaching Ryan. Also hanging on to Duchene vs getting something back for him doesn't make any sense either. Sure it's likely to be a later 1st rd pick and a prospect and maybe a mid round pick and that doesn't make up completely for what you gave up for him, but it's a help long term. As are any other guys who might not be in the long term plans.

Even if Ottawa finishes with the worst record, Colorado would still have less than a 1 in 5 shot at the top pick (18.5%)
