I think that's one of the more reasonable proposals for Karlsson that I've seen. However, Coburn is nowhere near worth a 2nd round pick. Maybe a 4th. Also think you're underpaying for Wayne Simmonds.

I think one of the biggest reasons we haven't seen the Karlsson trade transpire, particularly with TB, is that Johnson is probably not willing to waive his NTC. Why would he go from a top 5 team in the league to a wildcard team (NJ) that probably won't make the playoffs next year? Tampa wants to win in the next 2-3 years and they are very close to doing it, so if I'm Tyler Johnson no way am I waiving only to see my former teammates raise the trophy.

And for those of you who think John Cooper will just scratch him until he gets fed up, you're crazy. Cooper is a player's coach and coached Johnson when they won a Calder cup together. Johnson was also one of Tampa's best players, despite being injured, when TB made the cup finals in 2015.

Johnson doesnt need to be the guy that we trade. At least not right now. We can afford Karlsson this year if we trade Coburn.
