I figure a condition can be added to the 2nd round pick and 3rd round pick in the deal. If Pacioretty signs before the draft, the picks are swapped. If he doesn’t, both picks are staying with their teams.

Hawks are giving up too much for an aging Patches who wants a big long term deal (30 years old this season). Take out Kahun and you are closer.

I figured I’d get that. Hawks are dumping Seabrook in the trade though. That’s why I added. Fair enough though. I feel Montreal fans will disapprove.

MTL shouldn't take on Seabs simply because the Weber contract is arguably worse. Having both would shoot their D for years to come. That said, both players will likely get bought out in 2020 after the new CBA rules are negotiated.

weber can still play. Seabrook is the worst deal in the NHL

Nah, Seabs can still play. Look at the 2nd half of the season...he was solid as a 2nd liner. When Q limits his TOI to 15-17 minutes, he plays well.

Meh. Seabrook isn’t the worst. Pretty bad, but not even close.

MTL is saying NO to this trade before CHI is saying NO to it.

They seem to value Gallagher about 3-4x his actual value, which is already quite high.

Weber.
Gaborik
Brown (if he doesn’t play like he did last year)
Parise

Just to make a few.

Scratch that, I’d still rather have Gaborik.

Honestly Carey Price’s contract isn’t looking to hot either.

Webers contract isn't good, but he's still a very good top pairing defensemen. Cap hit is great, it's just term. However the last few years are very tradeable to a team that needs to get to the cap floor because the real dollars are so small. Seabrook was a healthy scratch, and has 6 years with signing bonuses and everything left.

Gaborik has a cap hit under 5 with 3 years left. Bad, awful, but whatever. It isn't 6 years at a shade under 7.
Parise is still a pretty good player when healthy. I know health is a big part of this conversation, but still. He doesn't have any signing bonuses left on his contract, so he's quite buy-out-able. Same as weber, the last four years of his contract are at reduced salary.
Brown scored 28 goals and had over 60 points last year and has 4 years left at under 6 million. I know it was a bounce back year, but he's not even in the discussion.

Nah, mate....Seabrook is as bad as it gets.

I said nevermind kn Gaborik. And Brown was if he doesn’t play like he did this last year. But yes, Seabrook is very very bad.

red wings aren't in great shape.

Lucic certainly has a brutal contract, but I just always think Lucic will have value on the ice. He can still play, he's a 3 million dollar player getting 6 million. Seabrook is an AHLer getting nearly 7
