Dallas need change also

Description
Rumor say that Séguin doesn't want to resign in Dallas and with Séguin Monteal will make the playoff, the first pick is less interesting. In 3 years the Montreal center could be Séguin, Kotkaniemi and Phoeling, what do you think?

Trade doesn't make much sense from Dallas' perspective. They give up a younger more talented center for an older LW who would be on their 2nd line. The 1st round pick wouldn't be enough compensation for the difference even though it has potential to be high if Montreal doesn't have a rebound season.

I think it's makes less sense for Montreal. They give up probably a top 3 pick, and then seguin probably walks. He doesn't want to rebuild.

Essentially, Montreal gives up a top five draft pick for nothing.

Montreal's only route to a number one center is the same as it was for Toronto, DRAFT. They hope they have it in Kotkaniemi but this isnt something Montreal can trade for right now, they dont have the pieces to acquire one, they dont have the team to convince one to stay.

I think and probably I'm wrong but Montréal will make the playoff with a guy like Séguin and you NEVER know if the pick you take will be the good one, you know what Séguin can give to Montréal. And the last thing it's I dont have faith to Bergevin and Timmins.
