Don't worry. You can always take heart in the fact that you will be able to overpay aging UFA veterans searching for contracts who have been passed over by the other teams.
This was Columbus' MO for many years. It didn't work out too well in the long run, but it did always get them fairly high draft pick out of it.
Too bad they didn't know how to scout, draft & develop back then (2000-2008).
