Trade with MTL

Created by: rja
Team: 2018-19 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 28, 2018
Published: Jul. 28, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
There is a report that Kevin Hayes and NYR are not gaining traction in contract talks. It is likely he will receive a 1 year deal, and then become a UFA. Instead of keeping him, trade him to a team that is in great need of a center; MTL. However, it will cost them a bit.

*This trade is done under the assumption Bergevin will move Pacioretty before he needs to be cap compliant- so Habs will definitely be able to do this. It is also assuming Staal waives his NTC, but NYR can just sit him in the press box, so it's possible he could waive.

Montreal will not trade the 1st rounder, thats one of the most prized draft pick for next year. A shot at Hughes , Kakko , Newhook, Byram

Ok so 2020 1st, does not really matter; Hayes would give them a center they need for many years, so a first would be fair.

Hayes is 3rd line material and they have Kotkaniemi and Poehling coming next season. Danault will be on the third line after that. No way they are trading next years first.

Like I said, it can be the 2020 first; it can a first rounder that you get if and when you trade pacioretty; does not matter. Adding Hayes would help the Canadiens a lot.

Use the link below to show Hayes's hero chart- his scoring tier probabilities have him as a top 6 forward. He averages over .5 ppg, plays relatively well in all 3 zones, and does not have to play center; you can move him to the wing if you'd like. I think this trade would benefit both teams a lot.

Third line C...?? Yea not in Montreal ges the #1 C for bext three years.... Funny Habs dont even have NHL calibur Centers and now Hayes is third line in the province....
GET A CLUE.... i would not bet on Kotkaniemi ever becoming a#1 center... second line tops.

Another post where Hayes is over valued. He is a good 2C but that is it. He hasn’t even broken 50 points for Christ sakes. He isn’t a 1C and just because he would be for Montreal doesn’t mean Montreal pays the price of one for him.

Honestly hayes is a good player but he is not worth a 1st round pick. This pick could be jack hughes or kakko! Hayes is 26 years old and has never reach 50 points. Even with staal it is not worth this pick. Sorry but montreal is rebuilding. They are not interested in a 31 years old defensman and a center with no potential in exchange of a pick that could be a future franchise player. And schlemko is more likely to give you a 6th round pick, at most a 5th.

So apparently Bergevin is saying they are not- that's why I made this post. Otherwise, would have never picked MTL.
