He would have to take significantly less than you have him down here for. The pens would need to have room for a spare forward which you do not have. They would likely also need to sign a more legitimate center(which is more cost added to what you have. It also would not surprise me if guentzel got more than you have here. So would need at least another 3million cap space. don't think pacioretty would take a discount down to 4million but maybe 5.5 and find some cap savings somewhere else.

Have you bothered looking at what Johnson's buyout is after the first year? It's over a million every season from 2020-2027, and in 2022-23 its over two million. Buying out Johnson's contract is idiotic, not least because he'll still have value and even if he isn't what Rutherford is looking for he'll be easy to trade to more than a few bad GM's.
