Montreal passes. Not giving up a lottery pick and a elite goal scorer for an injury prone defenceman and a third pairing guy.

It would be lottery protected and it becomes a 2nd if Pacioretty doesn't resign

Sorry, a 1st becomes a 2nd if Pacioretty walks? Just make it a 2nd and add a pick or PTBNL in the event Max walks.

That said, Montreal really doesn't need a RHD beyond the first 30 games of this season. Weber and Petry should be fine in the top-2 spots. So unless Letang can shift to LD, it's not that useful a move for MTL.

Just think of the fear on the faces of the opposing teams when they enter the zone and see Letang and Weber in their way.

Fair but Montreal still wouldn’t do that because their depth at RHD is already set. Weber takes up enough cap space for all three guys lol
