Getting Under the Cap

Description
Recent comments from Holland after the Larkin signing indicate that there's a very real chance Zetterberg might be done; that would suck.

Dallas has been connected to a lot of the scoring wingers in trade rumors, and it's common knowledge that they're looking to unload Spezza's deal. Nyquist gives them a legit top six option that Nill is familiar with from his time in Detroit, and removing Spezza gives them the cap flexibility to add another piece at the deadline.

The Jensen trade gives Edmonton a right handed, puck moving defenseman on a very cheap contract, something they've been looking for.

Babcock has made it pretty obvious that Leivo isn't going to see playing time under him; swapping him for Glendening gives Babcock his favorite grit machine from Detroit, and allows Leivo the chance to become an NHL regular with Detroit.

Philly's always been done in by brutal playoff goaltending; Howard gives them a goalie with a proven track record and has been a much better playoff performer than Elliot.

These deals would net Detroit some assets and allow Rasmussen, Zadina, and Hronek to play big minutes with the Wings. Svechnikov could be called up as an injury replacement, or if/when Vanek is moved at the deadline; Hicketts would slot in when Kronwall's knees inevitably give way. This is all pure fantasy; none of these moves will be made, but I think the trades are pretty reasonable for all the teams involved.

Bergevin an idiot? Not just any idiot, but a world class idiot?
I think we are supposed to use softer terms these days, how about mental midget? intellectually challenged? few cards short of a deck? both oars don't reach the water? the light is on but no one's home?

Haha well regardless, I removed the Spezza to Montreal trade; it sounds like it's more likely than not Zetterberg might not be coming back. So I kept Spezza on Detroit to serve as 3C.

I liked the idea anyway, and Bergevin just might have taken the deal.
What is up with Holland? Originally with Datsyuk, and now Zetterburg, Neilson, Abdelkader, Franzen, Helm???
He signed so many players to long term contracts that take them up to their 40th birthday (practically).
It is no wonder the Red Wings are broke and fighting to stay out of the cellar.
