Preds would be hard pressed to give up Tolvanen and certainly wouldn't if they thought Panarin would only be a rental. But... if Tolvanen hasn't shown himself to be quite ready for full-time NHL activity and the Preds are right back in Cup contention then it might be worth consideration.

Would a Cup contender. "throw in the towel". just because two players are upcoming UFAs? It would be unusual and inflame their players and fans.
