A Florida trade that doesn't involve centres?

Description
Inconceivable!

The Patches for one of Florida's young Cs trades have all been done to death. So here's a different take. It nets the Habs a LHD prospect, which they need. He might be a season or two away but hey, so are the centres the Habs need to turn this ship around.

Florida gets a little more scoring in a defensively reliable top 6 winger - maybe it's enough to push them over the edge? - and maybe it frees up a guy for trade bait to address any issues they have with tenders and the blue line?

Edit: I didn't realize that Florida's cap situation was as tight as it is. Florida can maybe throw in the goalie they like least - you have 3 on the book - to free up room - and maybe another bad expiring contract.

Puts Panthers over the cap. Panthers already have 3 top 6 LW and have to move one to RW. Max does not fill a need for them anymore. They wanted him at the deadline, didn’t get him. Moved on and got Hoffman. Does not mean they won’t work a deal for him if the price is right. But they are not going to go out of their way for him.

Yeah, I didn't realize they were that close to the cap limit. Maybe a trade deadline deal? Or the Habs would have to take on contracts to make it work, which makes me feel less guilty about the price I stated for Max.

I honestly Don't think the Max deal is with the Panthers.
I think it's with a team like Minnesota(good team, may need an added scoring punching winger behind Zucker and company), Edmonton(only if EDM is in the hunt or in the playoffs, but they need Dmore, but they also need everything else), Calgary(seem to be in the win now mode), Nashville(maybe), and my dark horse is San Jose.

Panthers got Hoffman, they don’t need pacioretty. With the Hoffman Kane and Skinner trades as a base line, your going to be severely disappointed at what Paccioretty brings back. I don’t know why MTL thinks he is more special

I'd add Carolina to that list, somehow. Maybe he replaces Skinner? But they are making interesting moves and have the room and the need. Ditto Vegas.

I half expected it to be the Panthers until Max listed his Florida home for sale - I'm just sick of seeing the same old Max and spare parts for v. McCann, Florida Centre, 1st rounder trade.

I'd honestly take less and not give up the 2nd. Upgrading a pick while moving a Pacioretty for 1 prospect is selling low. There really isn't a need to do this. The whole move Pacioretty out before the season starts is being blown out of proportions by the media. The optics looked worse they actually were.

Guys all you do is get Pacioretty, MB, Julien in a room to squash the beef preseason and you play Pacioretty through until best offer or TDL. I guarantee someone will pay at the very least what E. Kane got.

Selling low now is what a bad manager does. I know its MB so anything is possible but I will give him the benefit of the doubt as he hasn't moved yet so eh's not just getting rid of him. Florida doesn't need him anyways.
