Created by: tycam
Team: 2018-19 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 31, 2018
Published: Aug. 31, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Pacioretty moved WITHOUT contract extension in place.

The Jeff Skinner trade set the bar a bit for Patches and in this move the Habs get Beaudin (1st round pick - 2018 - who reportedly they were interested in him), 2nd and 3rd rd, along with a natural CENTRE in Anisimov.

Anisimov's a cap dump for the Hawks, so don't pat yourself on the back to hard. All I think the Habs could ask for is a conditional upgrade on one of the picks if he does resign. But it seems like a good deal.

Want us to take Shaw back to even out those cap dumps?

I don’t think cap dump Quite describes what Anisimov is to us... I would say, useful player who has lost his place of value in Chicago. That being said I would counter AA for Shaw + previously described trade is very fair. (No conditions on picks)

If you're thinking about a first then Beaudin is not part of the deal...

That’s a better way of phrasing what I meant. AA is closer to being redundant in Chi than anything else. Which means his value vis a vie the Hawks differs from his value vis a vie the Habs.

This...Anisimov is paid like a #2 center on a team where Toews is paid like a premier #1 and Schmaltz grabbed the #2 role (and will command the pay as such in a year). If you have 15-16 per year in cap tied up in your 1 & 2, Anisimov is a poor fit at his rate as a #3 given some of the Hawks other contracts. On a team with putrid center depth, a guy like Anisimov would be a real nice fit.
Anisimov is not a cap dump and would be a welcome asset in the Habs lineup given the other option they have down the middle.

The only way I do this deal is Patches extended at a rational rate and term which I don't think is happening based on the LA deal falling apart.
