Agreed. Bob would be nice since he's 3 years younger and we currently don't have a plan after Dubnyk, but I'm not sure if he'd re-sign here.

Assuming he would, I would hang up immediately on this trade unless the Jackets gave us Panarin + Bob (both with extensions, we can't afford to give up that much only for these two to walk next offseason). Dumba is the future of our blue line, he's had 3 consecutive 10 goal seasons (improving every season) with 20 goal potential. If his production continues to progress the way it has, we could have a PK Subban type player on our roster at only $6M per season. Dumba doesn't make any sense for the Blue Jackets since they already have Jones and Dumba is a waste on the 2nd pairing at this point IMO, he played much better in a 1st pairing role (as odd as that sounds). Coyle is our only right shot forward in our entire top 9 which was a huge problem for us on the PP last year. Losing him would make that problem worse.

Counter offer (an unrealistic one, of course) for you is this:


Panarin (with an extension in place, maybe something like 7 years x $9.5M)
Bobrovsky (also with an extension, maybe something like 5 years x $9M)
