I imagine that TML can't afford to take Hertl's contract back. They really need the space for their own players.

From the Shark's POV, they lose a top-6 forward and get another one. Nylander is the far superior offensive player and obviously has a higher ceiling, but Hertl is a possession monster and a great two-way forward. I'm not sure if the Sharks can afford to lose someone like him in a competitive season.

This makes the Sharks worse and Hertl is underrated.

It helps TOR way more than SJS.
