The Jones trade was the fairest trade in recent memory where an elite prospect was involved. Nashville got the #1 centre they have needed for years and Columbus got a #1 Right handed defenceman. Every other trade where someone gave up an elite offensive forward for defence resulted in a terrible trade for 1 side. Hall for Larsson?

If that trade never happened I bet they would have traded Weber for a forward instead of Subban

The Hall for Larson deal made sense only because Edmonton was making the deal to fill a much needed hole(still doesn't mean it was the right trade), but we all know this is a losing deal. Lots of times teams make deals knowing they are losing the deal at the start with the expectation of winning it later. Edmonton will lose this trade as long as Hall is in the NHL. You trade probably the 2nd best LW in the NHL(Ovi, Hall, Benn, marchand). I live in Edmonton and this is a kick to the nuts knowing the Oilers traded Hall for Larson then used that extra cap space so Chai could sign his old war buddy in Lucic......and we all know how that is working out. I would love Lucic if he made on 3 million tho.

Lucic isn't fast enough to play 5v5 anymore, he's done and would only look good surrounded by slow players. Which is why he looked effective in LA, they are by far the slowest team in the league.

Anyone who is traded a better player for a worse player, only to fill a hole is short sighted. There are better and cheaper ways to fill holes, spending 10 million dollars to patch a hole that requires a 100,000 patch isn't smart, its stupid.

If we didn't trade for Joey, this team would be completely different. We'd have some much higher 1st round picks in the years to follow if we didn't trade elsewhere for a #1C.

100%. and this is the reason why Chai has destroyed the Oilers.
