An interesting proposal but I don't think its a good move for TO.

Obviously Burns is currently the best player in the trade now but for how long? Trading a 22 year for a 30 year old isn't a smart plan. How long will Burns be an elite defenceman as he cruises through his 30? My guess he'll be declining within 2-3 years, meanwhile Nylander will be in the middle of his best years at that time and he'd be a cheaper cap hit.

This is why trading Nylander is almost always a bad idea. The vast majority of defenceman in the NHL are available and look like a good fit in TO are either several years older than Nylander or they would cost way too much. If the Leafs trade Nylander, it has to make sense.

No way.... burns is 33 and signed for 8m till he is 40.... than you want picks too? Sharks are not getting that deal and swapping out a declining burns on a bad contract for a young kid full of potential.

Now a 33 year old Burns making $8 milion per for the next 7 years or so, For a 22 year old William Nylander. And Dubas does this why?
