Team: 2018-19 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 10, 2018
Published: Oct. 10, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sharks get a 20+ goal scoring winger with very good size, speed, and defensive awareness for the next two years at a reasonable cap hit in the prime of his career.

Rangers are rebuilding and they get a very good young defenseman who has shown that he can be a top$ dman, a reasonable PKer (though melker is more of a capt throw in), one of the top prospects who is currently leading the WHL in scoring, tearing up juniors. and a 2nd rounder, which is a solid pick.

all in all, the rangers get a couple good future assets and a player who can slot into their D now in exchange for a player who would only have one year left anyways.

NYR is 0-3 and in a clear rebuild. Hayes is obviously on the way out, but keeping Kreider makes little sense either. Sharks can swoop in much like karlsson and snatch a good young player.

lastly, the sharks are carrying 8 D, so it's a waste. If they can resign EK65, then EK65/MEV44/BB88 can eat up big minutes making the loss of any other dman rather less painful. Dougie is in a great position to add to the offense without hurting anything.

not to mention the development of gambrell, chartier, checkhovich, letunov, halbgewachs, and co make almost any non-nhl forward tradeable. And Ferraro, Roy, DiSimone, and Merkley give a pretty solid D pipeline.

This is a very interesting trade. However, if the Sharks do this deal they potentially lose Pavelski. Which, in some ways, might not be so bad since he's older, but there is also no guarantee Kreider stays. I think the value is accurate.

I think they can keep pavs and karlsson and still do this deal. Dillon, Braun, MK68, as well as Dell would likely all need to be traded, but frankly, that's OK. I will make a team that shows this...

If Jumbo is done, you can take his money and sign Karlsson.

However, you still need to resign Donskoi, Meier, Labanc, and Pavelski. Even with Braun and Dillon potentially getting the boot, it makes me nervous.

take a look at the 'all in follow up' team.

Thin on D somewhat, but it can work...
