Description

Advanced space aliens with a passion for hockey arrive and tell us they will spare our planet if we can defeat them in a 7 game series. Who does Earth choose to represent them?

Tried to assemble a team that can do everything well - offense/defense, 5v5, PP and PK.

I tried to mix in youth and vets. The 4th line is the defacto checking line. I wanted two really good defensive centers for the PK which is way it has two centers.

Note: For D I tried to stay true to a LD / RD setup where lefties play left and righties play right. This gave me some insight into the league... There are a lot less high end LD than RD. If I used more RD the pairings would be different. I also tried to only use wingers (or centers that have played some wing) on the wings, not just load up centers. If I loaded up centers the lineup might look different.

Those who I considered by didn't make the cut are in the scratches.

The team is a mere 320 million on the cap, which in the GHL (Galactic Hockey League), is way under the cap. They also allow a much larger roster for scratches.

great post. Not sure I would have chosen Lundqvist for back up though, he's not at his best anymore. I have a feeling the Aliens would run our goalie so we should probably carry 3. Hellebuck or Rinne or Holtby. If its later in the season when F.Anderson actually starts playing well, even him, over rask

Price and Lundqvist are not 2 of the best goalies anymore. I'd put Gibson and Vasilevskiy.
