Description

Pageau's Contract ends next year making him a good fit of MTL as a 2nd line Center to take 1000-1200 faceoffs winning between 52-55% while adding Speed and 125-150 hits a year .(similar style to Byron)

OTT is rebuilding and doing quite well in the faceoff area with 3/4 centers at 50-52% and Colin White with 4th most faceoffs on the team at 63% on 55 shots in 9 games making JG Pageau a piece OTT isnt as reliant on in the faceoff circle as 2 years ago or even last year.

this would Give OTT Assets as well as a 2nd rounder in 2020 that's Condition could see it turn into a Third 1st round pick for them that year .

I doubt we could get that kind of return for him, but if anyone would pay that price it would be Montreal.

I still think Pageau could have a future in Ottawa on the wing for one of our many Left shot Centres. The only problem is that the wings are a little crowded, and we already have at least one RW prospect knocking on the door.

I think if either Duchene or Stone doesn't re-sign or if they decide to trade Dzingel at the deadline (I think they should) I think Pageau could stay.

Man that Bobby Ryan contract is really going to mess things up going forward

he's good vs us for sure but it was about his size and grit combined with his ability to take faceoffs as MTL's only center above 50% win rate is injured .
there are a few other options in the league but they are more expensive with term on their deals where as JGP we can use this year and flip next year .
(Strome in ARZ is one of a half dozen others with Speed/Possession skills but unlike JGP this would mean a longterm acquisition which we dont necessarily need)
