Acquiring Benn would be a way to get rid of Hanzal. Otherwise Habs would be having too many roster players when Hanzal gets healthy.

It's not like Hanzel is a prize either, you know. You want the Habs to take a salary dump - for you, it is, at least - you have to give something good back. Your D prospect seems intriguing so the Habs might do it. Sure you wouldn't rather have Schlemko?

idk much about dallas prospects. i dont think u have any good d prospects that u can trade. but the only way ur unloading hanzal is if u spare a good prospect, or u buy him out.,

no. like whenever u wanna cap dump a player, u gotta give a good asset. last season jets cap dumped mason to the habs, but also gave a 4th rd pick, joel armia whose a real solid 3rd line guy and pk guy for simon bourque (who retied from pro hockey at the age of 23) . as soon as mason came, mtl bought him out, and its only 1.6mill for this season and next season. hanzal is on a longer term contract. he also has health issues. i read an article on the athletic a few days back, that right now, hanzals biggest fear is that he might not play hockey again. he has the same injury as zetterberg did last season, and Z had to retire. so theres always that risk factor.

CBJ not asking for the moon. An extended Panarin should be a Top 6 F, top prospect and 1st rd pick. So this covers it. Could probably take out Oettinger though, CBJ don't need more goalie prospects.

MTL hard pass. Not for what they are giving up (Jordie Benn is an average 3rd pairing guy who's currently overachieving) but what's coming back is horrible.
Just use the WIN-MTL trade this past summer as an example. For the Jets to have the Habs get rid of Mason for them, it cost them a 4th + 7th + Armia who's still a former 16th overall pick with a decent amount of potential (and playing good in all situations this year and mentoring / protecting KK)

Hanzal is a much bigger contract to deal with, so at least one good asset needs to be coming back. Habs also have no use for someone like Hanzal anyways. They already have an injury prone vet whose solid defensively with Plekanec, so buyout / burying him would be their only options.

Those CBJ fans are morons. The writing is on the wall and CBJ should take best available offer for Panarin and Bob. I think he might be waiting to see if someone gets desperate and overpays.
