Description

How the leafs can stay together. This is NOT a good defense by any means, but so much cap space opens up the offseason after (Marleau contract, cap increase, no huge new FA's). Had to bridge Kappy and Johnsson to keep numbers down, but Matthews Marner Nylander all get long term deals. Brown's gotta go, it was between him Hyman Kappy and Johnsson and I chose him to leave. Lethal PP, Kadri a PK option I didn't use. Also the defensemen I chose to be my bottom pair/spare don't have to be those specific players, but rather those salaries. I don't care whether its Rosen or Borgman that gets 3LD, but neither one is going to be paid very much. Also no, Willie didn't get 6.66 for 6 years cuz he's the devil. Support his holdout, a players gotta fight for their money and I'm okay with that. Gave him the Pastrnak contract

Cap has gone up. 12.5 then is not 12.5 now. Think of it in percentages, he isn't getting the McDavid percentage of cap. Matthews is a 45-50 goal scorer. Tavares was offered 13 mil but took a paycut. Matthews won't.

Are these contracts too high or too low? I think they are perfectly fair value. Marner is gonna be an 80 pt player, but not worth the 10 mil he wants. Nylander is worth 6.66 easily. If Nylander is willing to come down to that I sign the deal, I just hope he does

Of all the points to make though, that one is just pointless. Everyone always means Matthews, Marner and Nylander. Everyone else is periphery.

Respectfully disagree. I have Pasta as Nylander comparison, and Kucherov for Marner (Kuch got 9.5 and is better than Marner)

Brown is worth more then a 6th, 3rd probably. And you forgot about Moore, he for sure makes the team before Engvall and Bracco

Can't disagree with the numbers though. Matthews could get pretty much any number he wants, we just have to hope he takes some sort of discount

Fair. Moore wasn't on my sheet, maybe just didn't resign him? Would be more than willing to give him a spot over Bracco and Engvall. Brown trade cost I think is somewhere between a 3 and 6. For cap reasons it is irrelevant, just kind of picked randomly, but I wouldn't disagree with Brown for a 4
