What are your thoughts on Panarin knowing he's not going re-sign in Columbus? Is Columbus going to move him or let him walk as a UFA at the end of the season?

Not the original poster but CBJ fan. I would be shocked if hes traded. Imo only possibility hes traded is if we tank hard

Yeah, I agree but then that sucks that he walks for nothing in free agency.

Honestly, just because of our legacy as CBJ, I would rather make a serious playoff push than trade him for a couple pieces. I feel like the return wont be as good as many of us hope

Yeah I agree with that. Problem is, with Nashville, Toronto, Tampa, Winnipeg, Colorado and even the Islanders, all have a good chance at making a run. That said, the NHL has more parity then most sports so anything can literally happen. It just sucks that Columbus that Columbus won't get anything if they let him walk. Maybe by February, the picture is clearer and Columbus makes a move.

I think so, there are a bunch of teams that have had hot starts that might trail off by the winter. Teams that we all thought were theoretically tanking like Ottawa, Detroit, and the Rangers are hanging around in the standings up to this point. The only team that looks like they couldn't possibly do much to get better at this point is LA.

Columbus started slow but has been playing well since then I notice and is climbing the standings so yeah, maybe holding onto Panarin and seeing it the Jackets can get at least 1 year of playoff success is the way to go. If Panarin walks in the offseason for nothing, the Jackets can start a rebuild and dream for Lafreniere in 2019-2020.

I'll be upset if they keep him and don't add pieces. I won't be upset if he's traded for a decent return. Personally I'd like them to go all in and make a push with him on the team.
