Jets-Oilers revisited

Created by: Dullard
Team: 2016-17 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: May 6, 2016
Published: May 6, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
IF the Jets were to trade away Laine and Trouba to get a package of players back from Edmonton, I can't see them grabbing another prospect LW even if it makes for a great story. Ehlers, Connor, Lemieux, Dano, Lowry... I'm proposing the Jets drop down again and get any one of the three top Dmen in the draft with the 9th pick. Montreal will be itching their baguettes trying to land Dubois.

That said, for the 12 million in additional salary the Jets would take on in the oilers trade, they could just keep Laine and add Okposo and Demers.

Yeah I agree with that assessment that dropping down to draft a defenseman makes more sense. and it would make more sense to sign Okposo and Demers. the problem with UFA's is that you can't gaurantee that they will sign with you. So much flux this off season. it should be awesome!!!

FYI if you're trading Trouba and #2 overall to edmonton make the deal with CollarMcBroken. His offer is quite a bit better cap wise...

don't see the point of the Jets doing this. They don't get any better, just get a collection players they already have equivalents of plus get weaker on D. Laine has too much potential, don't think its nearly enough quality on the Oilers side

As much fun as it would be to give this team a test drive, in the long run Laine and Trouba should give a higher level of results than the collection of assets negotiated here.
