Keeping holtby next season dont rush samsonov

Description
No reason to rush him into the nhl....take the hart approach. I also don’t think Holtby should be traded... capitals won’t get full value for him.....his stats aren’t great but everyone knows what he’s able to do. When he’s on he’s a top 3 goalie when he’s off he’s maybe top 10. That being said the window is only open for so long don’t waste a year by trading Holtby and hoping samsonov works out.

Okay.... what price do you think is fair for a player that will more than likely get 25 points this season and had 25 points last season? Lars Eller is a much more important and impressive and I signed bura for the same deal he got? But please enlighten me on this “ candy land prices” bro haha

Idk about the length of Copley. I honestly believe Samsonov can come up in the 2020-21 season. It is a good price though, and he should sign for that (especially if the Caps approach him now). I just would hate to see him traded later on. Maybe just a 1 year deal for me, but honestly its good either way. As for barber, I don't think the caps are really going to resign him. He hasn't done much (mostly due to the Caps stunting his growth), so he will probably sign AHL or overseas.

I like Copley as a backup ....he’s dojng good for Holtby and if samsonov struggles he’s shown that he can win some games. I like barbers game but I do agree that the caps ruined his development I guess you could swap him for Gersich

You said Eller is more important and impressive... yet you gave Burakovsky the same deal? If Eller is more important and impressive, shouldn't the other guy get less?

younger and eller took a discount but I agree he should take/make less I was just being as realistic as possible.... I hope he signs for 2.75-3 million, but 3.5 is more likely.

not sure what your point is ha?

If person A is more important and more impressive than person B, why give B the same contract? Person B should make less. It's like you got the wires backwards.

easy example....... crosby is better than malkin and more impressive and valuable.....why did malkin make more?

eller took a discount bc he likes playing is dc

bura is a young and could turn into a star but hes more than likely just a top 9 forward.... I can't reason playing him more than eller and it would be hard for his camp to argue getting more than eller

wires aren't backwards.... like I said what he should make and what he will make are 2 different things

I thought that you were using it as a benchmark for the new contract. My wires were backwards.

Vrana might be needing more than that. He's on pace for a 40-50 point season and is clearly a lot better than Bura, even with a lot less NHL games under his belt. Unless the Caps don't want to commit long term to him, but they might lose him eventually.

Edit: On second thought, Vrana should be getting the long term deal. Not Bura.

I just used the bridge deal they used for bura after his 38 point season (he never played with backstrom or oshie)......but I imagine they sign him long term after this bridge

Probably, but if Vrana is willing to do a long term deal now, it might save the Caps some money in the long term. Vrana might take a slightly less AAV for a much longer contract at this point. There would be a slight risk for the Caps, but my feeling is that if they don't do this for Vrana, he might be getting quite a bit more in a couple years. Assuming he keeps improving at his current pace.

oh I agree I would think a 5 year deal would cost the caps 4-4.5......I would rather 2x3m then go long term 4.75-5million x8year
