Shake Up 20 w St Louis amp Detroit

Created by: Zubrowka
Team: 2018-19 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 29, 2018
Published: Nov. 29, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Taking another stab at this. Thanks to Blues and Oilers fans for their feedback on the last go around.

Re: Howard from the Wings. TSN was saying Holland wants a 1st for Howard. Seems excessive for a rental, even though he's playing well. Holland has dealt a goalie for conditional picks to the Flyers recently, however. Perhaps that bridges the gap here and gets a deal done.

Only if Simmonds signs a cost effective extension with St. Louis.

PHI better off including Allen in the Parayko deal as he and Eliotte in a tandem have proven success but more importantly you'd have all 3 New Brunswickers who have chemistry in Couturier(f) , Allen(g) and Meyers (d). (if nothing else you'd increase the amount of tourists traveling to see games in PHI)

add Neuvirth ,1st and a 2nd to the Parayko deal and i think STL pulls the trigger .

Allen may struggle in STL now but in PHI with your offense , defense and physicality i think he'll play well with the man who helped him turn Pro Brian Eliotte .

my boss is a flyers die hard , see's games live constantly and most of my insight comes from him on the flyers .

unlike a lot of fans my boss has been actively involved in promoting hockey for 30+ years so forgive me if i believe him over someone who makes back handed comments offering nothing to the conversation

You can just look at the stats. The Flyers are 21st in goals for, the offense isn't exactly a strength for this team. Some games they get all cylinders clicking and look great and then large stretches they can't even complete a pass to one another. They are not a physical team as they have been in the past and didn't have their first fight until 11/21. They are 9th in hits per game but I can tell you they aren't those hard hits that make a player thing twice about making a play The defense to be put kindly is a "work in progress". Provorov and Ghost seemed to have regressed or just have zero confidence and you have guys like MacDonald and Folin out there getting pretty regular minutes. The defensive core has the potential to be great in a few years when a few dead weight players are done and some of these younger guys get more experience. So while you may respect your bosses opinion I watch nearly every game as well and his opinion on the Flyers having a strong offense and defense is clearly wrong and the standings/stats show it.

How's that for offering something to the conversation?

this time you offered something and i appreciate that .

the one thing that drives me bonkers on this site is the amount of people who comment offering nothing and when pressed dont offer anything still. You didnt do that i challenged you you stepped up to the challenge so good on you first off .

now back to the topic at hand PHI has a lot of good pieces you just have a garbage coach, put a guy like Quennville in there with the same players and i guarantee you see a different effort put forth.Coaches like Quennville prefer Tandem Goaltending because injuries happen in the playoffs and his teams were always prepared .There is a ton of other coaches who can yield better results with the youth and leadership pieces you got .

i still think PHI would be better off trading Sanheim and a pick for Petry as he and Gudas could handle your top 4 RD no problem allow Ghostisbhere to play on his LD . PHI gets a RD who can play top mins and top special teams assignments who lays out hits , blocked shots at a regular pace while eating up 25-27 minutes .

That's exactly the idea here, but would much prefer acquiring Parayko for Hagg and Simmonds than Petry for Sanheim and more. Sanheim/Gudas has been our best performing pair statistically, and Sanheim's upside is too great to trade. Even if Parayko turns out best suited for the 2nd pairing role, that is perfectly fine. Can take another stab at a top RD or roll with Provorov/Ghost again.

With future in mind, it's likely our protected D for the Seattle expansion are Ghost, Provorov and Sanheim. We might protect the 4th but only if that target pans out perfectly. Parayko could be that good. Petry could, on the other hand, be a major problem because of his NTC/NMC.
