Schenn

Created by: DirtyRebound
Team: 2018-19 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 7, 2018
Published: Dec. 7, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Schenn does become available, Bruins could offer a package like this which would be a bit under what they gave for Oreilly.

I think the Bruins would have to rearrange the assets involved to suit the Blues desire but a trade along these lines of 2nd , young top 9 + D prospect, could work granted other teams don't offer a better package

I would be iffy with that one based on my personal preference. I believe Krug is very essential to the Bruins lineup while others may not think so. I would rather trade Gryzleck even though Krug carries a higher cap hit and will be a UFA next year. That's just my opinion.

If I were the Blues I would probably want a 1st as well so if there is a better offer with a 1st I would take it. Can't see the Bruins giving up their 1st for a second year in a row though. i believe this would be the type of offer they would table.

Well this isn’t an offer the Blues come close to accepting. Heinen has 5 points, Zboril looks like a non-NHLer and a 2nd round pick is whatever. Schenn had 70 points and isn’t a pure rental.

He would be a good fit on the Blues. I just can't see the Bruins parting with a core member of their team and leaving the hole to be filled by the young players who have yet to develop their offensive upside. That's why I think Gryzleck would be a closer fit for a trade like this if that is what the Blues are searching for.

Schenn did have 70 points last year, but he didn't break 47 points until his 5th year in the NHL. This is Heinen's second year and he put up 47 in his first season.

Its tough to make an argument comparing the point totals of one player today and point totals for the other player from the year before.

Zboril is an arbitrary name in this piece and could be Gryzleck, Vaakanainen or even Lauzon if the Bruins up the offer.

Once again, if the Blues were to get a better offer then they should take it. This is just what I can see the Bruins packaging.

how about Donato instead of Heinen? Higher ceiling by a mile, but definitely less of an immediate impact, which should be what both teams are after

Well, Heinen is definitely out to a slow start, but he's a two way winger, and did have 47 points in a little over 70 games as a rookie. Sophomore slumps are common, he's a very good player that doesn't need to put up points to contribute.

How about we knock the 2nd up to a first, sub heinen for Donato, and you guys take backes back as well?

Also, way way way to early to say Zboril looks like a non NHLer. He had a great end to the season in the A last year. Yes, he's had ups and downs, and there's certainly a chance he'll never be an NHLer, but the tools are there and D men take time to develop.

Yes the concept works, but I specifically don’t want Backes. I’d be open to finding another way to make the cap work for you, but not Backes. The Blues need to move forward as an organization and bringing back the former captain is a step in the wrong direction.

Not a bad offer, but we would want Carlo, instead of Zboril, or Debrusk instead of Heinen, or a 1st instead of a 2nd.

Swap the 2nd for a 1st. Keep Shen. Think it works for both.

2 years....and he's kind of likely to retire before the deal is up. I don't think it's an issue as I don't think the Blues will be ready to compete for a cup in the next two seasons, so he could probably be a good influence in the locker room for the kids. As much as his contract stinks, the guys a real pro.
