Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
An NHL executive told The Athletic that the asking price for Carter is most likely a first round pick, existing contract, and prospect.

Penguins take a chance on a underperforming veteran 3C. Also allows for multiple quality line combos as Sully loves messing with the lines.

A 24-year old player that has yet to crack the NHL isn't a prospect, he's a failed player. The Kings have several. The Kings already have two $4M LHD defensemen that they're trying to unload. They don't want/need another. No they don't want Rust either.

Make the prospect Hallander or Almeida and make the roster player Oleksiak and the Kings might do this. They're not going to retain salary in excess of $2M for the next 4 years though. You might talk them into retaining 10% if you throw in that extra pick.

Johnson was signed out of college ofc he's not going to be super young, but to say he's a failed player is idiotic. Sheary was once an undrafted College FA and he's had a nice career so far and he's only 26

Sheary was a full time player in the NHL at 23. Right out of college, he led Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in scoring as an AHL rookie.

Johnson barely cracked the top 10 for WBS in scoring last season. He's sixth on the team in scoring so far this season, being outscored by guys several years younger than him. If he were going to be a quality player in the NHL, he would have made it by now.

Hard pass.

right out of college? no he wasn't lol. he got out of college in 13-14, played 2 game with WBS, then 14- 15 played a full year. 15-16 season he came up mid season when sullivan took over. 16-17 is when he became a full time player.

Re-read what I said. Right out of college he lead his AHL team in scoring. He was a full-time player in the NHL by age 23 (2015-16), meaning he got called up and stayed up.

Johnson did neither of those things. He's Pittsburgh's version of Jonny Brodzinski, except Brodzinski put up better numbers in both the NCAA and in the AHL. Brodzinski is now 26, is a fringe-NHL player, and is going to be a group VI free agent this July.

Kings don't want him. Especially not as in return for Jeff Carter.
