Yotes can become instant playoff contenders with the trade. Plus can get a grade A prospect, and a grade B prospect along with most likely a boat load of picks.
2017 1st round pick, 2017 2nd round pick- If pens Win cup
2017 1st round pick- If pens make playoffs
2017 2nd round pick, 2018 1st round pick- If pens don't make 2017 playoffs
2018 2nd round pick- If pens miss 2017 and 2018 playoffs
OEL is totally unavailable for anything less than a young superstar. Malkin wouldn't even do it. Guy is a stud #1 on an controlled deal.
Totally favors Pitt and I am a pens fan
I would disagree that the trade totally favors the Pens... a #1 goalie, 1st round pick, young NHL ready D man, and decent prospect is a whole lot to give up. The issue is that the yotes would never trade for fleury given the financial commitment they have to mike smith's contract. If they could get out of that somehow, then maybe this could work.
