No thanks from MN. Simmonds screams Milan Lucic to me, the guy has not looked good this year and signing him to a lucrative extension would bite us in the ass. Besides, we can't afford to trade Brodin right now as Suter's injury has proven to be a problem with his skating (he's still good but he's lost a step).

Such a horrible comparison. Simmonds is not even close to as bad as Lucic. Simmonds can actually skate which is a huge deal in today's game. Simmer would currently be 5th on your team in goals.

But he's on pace for 36 points. Don't get me wrong, I've loved Simmonds for a long time now (one of my fav non-Wild players), but he's going to want a long contract and he's declined for 3 seasons. Simmonds can skate OK, but he's not a speedster by any means. My point with saying that is his type of game does not bode well on the body and we're seeing that now. Lucic was a great player in the past but his tough-guy hockey has taken a toll and now he's on an awful contract. Same with Simmonds IMO, his tough play has led to a decline and I fear he will want a long-term deal which will turn out to be a bad contract. I've kept my eye on Simmonds for a while and he's nowhere near the 60 point player he used to be.

Basically I wasn't comparing Simmonds production to Lucic's, I was comparing his situation.
