Smashville window is WIN-NOW MODE and they have enough D-depth and they will have enough money to sign back Ellis.
They need Skills= Nylander

I would prefer, if I was a Toronto fan, to keep nylander and kadri rather than trading both for subban.

Who ever, and I mean ever, would want to keep Gardiner and Hainsey over Kadri and Nylander? This could be the most absurd thing I have ever read on here.

You are right you can't keep everyone, so you prioritize which players will have the biggest impact for the team. Nylander is more talented than anyone in TO apart from Matthews, Marner and Tavares. He's also 22 meaning he has his entire prime ahead of him. Kadri is an incredibly strong 3C (hell he's a fantastic 2C), and he is under contract for 4 more years at only 4.5 million a year. Again that is a incredibly valuable thing. Hainsey is old and can't skate well enough to be effective, no chance he gets resigned. Gardiner is a middle pair offensive defenceman who is going to command more than 6 million on his next contract. He isn't worth it and will be let go as well. So now we have more than enough to sign Matthews and Marner. Kapanen could be a problem but if he demands too much, trade him for defensive help. He's a good player but he's not in the same league as the higher end guys TO has, he's expendable. Same with Johnsson.

You need explaination...ok!
Add to this roster: Gardiner 7M (UFA), Nylander7M, Kadri 4M= 18M
and remove Subban -9M... you are still +/- 6-7-8M over the cap! flushed cheeks

I agree... this is what would probably happen...
but I don't like the CoreD for next season having:
Reilly- Zaitsev
Dermott- Ozhi (in Gardiner- Hensey replacement)
Borgman- Lilegreen ( kidz line)

The only reason I love this trade is I would love to have Subban just to dunk on the Habs.

Seriously though, nah. I'd rather have Nylander and Kadri, then deal with the D in the offseason.

Our biggest problem is we have a ton of RHD that are just too young to come up right now (Liligrin, Sandin, Rosen, and i'd put Holl even though he's stuck and can't go down), so the plan should be to just let Hainsey and Gardner walk. Hainsey will probably retire and Gardner will get 6m from someone for his scoring ability.
