Description

Besides a few players, the Devils suck and they are not going anywhere fast. Besides not being able to score, they can not defend and they are scared of any physical contract with the other team. So, its time to rebuild.

Devils gain a future picks for Boyle, who was unlikely to return. Plus Boyle gets to play in the playoffs.

Calgary creates much needed cap space as Bennett, Tkachuk, and Rittich all need to be paid in the off season. Additionally, Ryan sucks and Boyle will help with the playoff run.

Islands try and find a fix for in front of the net. Lou Lamoriello has traded for Cory before, so he may have more faith in him then others. Additionally, its not like Cory can be much worse than what the Islanders already have.

Oilers are projected to have just under 12 million in cap space next year and that is with 4 RFA, including Puljujärvi, and no goalies under contract. So unless the plan is to either run the same team back year after year or lose their young players, they have to move someone.

Cap is going up by 3-3.5M so that 12M is more like 15M, can send Brodizak to AHL for 1M caproom saved, Khaira, Puljujarvi likely to be the only 2 RFA resigned(and doubtful they make over 3.25M combined at this point). Rieder has been decent but they'll surely look for somebody cheaper.

I agree that some big moves might help the OIlers, its more likely they do smaller moves and free cap space with less of a pricetag then Lucic (Benning, Spooner, Kassian can all be moved to free up another 7M cap)
