care your logic behind this one? cause Carolina is loaded on RD and Petry doesn't play ahead of any of the right handed dman they have already and giving up one of the top defence prospects in the league makes even less sense

Because Petry is a complete package defenseman and right now he could play 1st or 2nd pairing easely on the Canes. 42pts last season and on pace for 60 this year. Tom Dundon wants more offense and this gets you it without sacrificing a roster player. If this doesn’t help you make a push for the playoffs, nothing will and seeing as the owner seems to be profit orientated, im willing to guess making the playoffs is high on his list of priorities.

What they need is more scoring up front. They need a center, a RH RW, and a goalie.
