Description

Maybe Nylander deserves to 4th liner this year with poor play Matthews will now join him. The reason centre Freddie Gauthier has scored in two consecutive games. Leafs should go with their hot hand.
Yep, I texted Coach Babcock with my suggestion, and he texted back. "Yea that's going to f@@@ing happen!!!!" So tomorrow night I expect the line change.

So what's more believable...my suggested line change move or Freddie at a goal a game pace.

With Kapanen and Johnsson in contract years, both of them should be used as bottom 6 forwards so they will have weaker point totals and than can't cash in this summer. If Babcock demotes them to the 3rd and 4th line duties and promotes Brown and Ennis than the Leafs can easily save 2-4 million in cap space in the future. Or else Kapanen gets roughly 5 million (like all those Tbay players get) and Johnsson gets 2+ million (just like Hyman and Brown).

That would decrease their NHL point total if they could. Seems like winning isn't important but managing next years cap is.

He's got two nice assists on the Gauthier goals. If Moore can get Gauthier to score goals, Moore just might be greatest playmaker in NHL history.

Moore has looked really good. Playing on the so called fourth line, but they have had lots of offensive zone time, and even scoring.

Both Brown and Ennis are former top 6 guys who scored 20 goals (albeit Brown only did it in his rookie season), so it wouldn't be too obvious to send Kapanen and Johnsson down the line up. Today's NHL is more about Salary Cap crunching than old school GM tactics, which is why Dubas is a NHL GM, not an Armchair GM. So there is hope for all of us.

Leafs must be pissed that he's an All Star. Apparently it cost the Leafs 250,000 in bonuses. Just more added to the cap. TML34, you're right, I didn't text Mike. He phones me every day for my coaching insight so he can use my suggestions.
