Something to keep in mind

Description
The Penguins are all set at forward as of right now. I do think if anything were to happen, such as an injury, guys like Grant, Deal, and Wilson can fill in adequately. However, it wouldn't be the worst thing to, only if there becomes a pressing need, look at Ryan Spooner on retained salary. Spooner put up 49 and 39 point seasons in Boston and hasn't played on a good team since. Much like Pearson, he might need another change of scenery. However, the Pens shouldn't pull the trigger on any deal for Spooner if the situation doesn't call for it and if Edmonton refuses to retain salary. It shouldn't cost too much anyway. In this proposal, Sheahan is traded as a salary comparable in this case, though his penalty killing might be missed. I just think it's an idea not to be ignored IF a need for a forward arises.

Personally, I'd much rather call up a forward from the AHL like Teddy or AJ or Angello but it's a concept.

Also, this deal isn't meant to be fair or unfair or whatever, it's more of a discussion of a worst case scenario for the Steel City.

Don't worry about the lines, it would depend on who's injured and how everyone is playing at the time.
Trades
PIT
  1. Spooner, Ryan ($1,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
I'm not entirely sure how the retained salary would work but for the sake of the deal, let's match salaries so no cap loss is suffered by either team.

It's a discussion, not an actual trade proposal. No reason to rate it one star in my opinion but I respect your opinion. Also, the Oilers are having issues trading Spooner so hardly any offer will be an overpay on their end...

Riddle me this young Knight of Ren... Why care of the opinion from someone who misspelled a word (a lot) that was purposefully capitalized to prove a point? But to play devils' advocate, I do agree that more assets would need to be added if you are, even hypothetically trading for a better player and retaining salary as well. FYI, salary retention is up to 50% of the contract and retention can only happen twice per life of said contract.
