Yeah I don't think they'd be willing to move even their next years 1st. They could be an even worse team next year. Guys like Muzzin, Toffoli, Quick etc are being shopped so highly doubt they move any top picks.

But yes this would be a killer return for the Leafs. Sticking Out Tongue

Oh I doubt it happens either but LA was certain they were not only a playoff team this season but a contender as well. They have been playing better as of late as well and the Pacific does suck really bad so you never know.

This would be just crazy though, because LA will almost certainly be worse next season than they are this year. They are so slow and old and they have very little cap space.

Agree it would be quite the haul for the leafs. Top 2 lines speak for themselves, I like the looks of your bottom 6 as well. Could see Brown getting traded at some point as well to make some cap room to upgrade the D. Good work.

I am actually very surprised Bracco gets no hype yet. My buddy and I have a hockey podcast and we mentioned Bracco the one day and totally submarined him until we checked his stats, (While Live, always fact check before you open your mouth lol) he's lighting it up for the Marlies. He's now leading the AHL in assists and I thought he looked really good in the preseason as well. He's taken a little longer to progress than some of the others but the kid is very good.

He is a hell of a player. I watch a lot of Junior hockey and saw a lot of him when he was in Kitchener - the kid has some great hands and is smart. Mason Marchment is another guy to watch for also. His numbers in Junior were not outstanding, but hes looking like hes a bit of a late bloomer. He has some size and he can put the puck in the net. Its nice that these guys can develop under the radar a bit as they aren't getting the attention that the 1st rounders are.

Since Shanahan has arrived, Toronto has put more effort into player development than any other team. I'd wager that player development is even more important than scouting. Really any player that gets drafted will have a tonne of skills and talents, but unless they are taught how to maximize their potential they can just flop. Look at Edmonton as an example of the opposite. They can't develop a player to save their lives.

Absolutely. For as much time and effort that a player puts into their career to get drafted (which is a tonne of work), they need to put even more time and effort to improve and earn their shot to crack an NHL lineup. Even the AHL is a very skilled league, and does not get the respect that it deserves. As a leaf fan, its nice to see they are finally on the right path as it related to player development. And as for Edmonton, I agree 100% - its a joke lol.

My guess is kapanen would get compensation at a 2nd round compensation, which falls just under 4.1 million aav. Depending on what matthews and marner sign for, that would get it done.

I thought about that but I think he played his way onto the team so I imagine they'd match anything under 4.1. He's worth more than a 2nd to the Leafs I feel. They would likely match and move Brown or possibly even Zaitsev.

I know I'm a hard liner on here but it's all well thought out at least.
