Description
The Flames adding Tarasenko is a huge get, with a big price. The trade breaks down as:
Tarasenko for a 2019 first rounder, 2020 second rounder, Andersson and Dube.
This won't fit under the Flames cap, so Smith (on an expiring deal) is added. This still doesn't really fit under the cap this year, and does not next year, so Stone is added to the deal. Payment to St Louis for taking Stone is Matthew Phillips. So its 5 assets and 2 liabilities for Tarasenko.

I realize my thought could be easily misunderstood. I was agreeing with you. The Blues trade is horrible.

Yeah, that's how prospects and draft picks works. They are lottery tickets. Doesn't make sense for a contending team to trade great players, instead you offer lots of potential and hope it works out.

The issue with your offer is it assumes the Blues are good, and the Flames are not. Need to flip that script. What would it be worth to you to sell Tarasenko? Keep in mind, teams aren't going to trade their best players - a collection of picks and prospects will do a rebuilding team better than good players, and good teams aren't giving them up anyways.

Pesce + Necas + 1st is about the return it would take for Tarasenko. Contrary to the Blues ****ty record they are not going to rebuild mode
