You don't need to trade the pick, but honestly Pittsburgh doesn't have the cap for Janmark. You'll have to add a higher pick and get Rust, or get Johnson/Maata.

Janmark has taken 15 face-offs this season.. wouldn't categorize him as a C..

Yep. 700k cheaper and likely will be cheaper when both Janmark and Brassard need new contracts

Right now, but Brassard is a UFA this year, and Janmark will want around the same salary next year, which will leave Pittsburgh with 5 million to spread across 6 roster spots. If Pittsburgh is selling a rental, they’ll want prospects and picks. Not roster players carrying cap.

If Pittsburgh is trading a rental, they’ll likely not want one back in return. I know Janmark in an RFA but they can’t afford to resign him. They’ll have 7.5 million to spread across 7 roster spots.

Brass is damaged goods. His smaller statue and gritty game has beaten him up, a la Avery/Cally. You could see the end was near after the his great playoff run with NYR. Another 2" and 20lbs, or better speed, and he would have been a star! Now he is an injury plagued, average 3c unfortunately.
