Having 2 solid goalies isn't a bad thing, and I am not so sure Jarry will earn $3.5M after roughly 60-70 GP. Murray got that deal after winning two cups, but I agree that they should do a similar deal for Jarry. 2 first round picks would be very nice, though ?</div></div>
I do not think it is necessarily giving up on Murray. If Jarry keeps it up, it is clear that hell be the long-term option. I love Murray and appreciate everything he's done here in such a short amount of time. The way I see it, we need to move one of them before the Seattle expansion draft, since I do not want to lose another sick goalie for free. Let's say we keep him past this season and he puts up similar numbers next year, his value won't be high at all, but well be forced to make a move because of Seattle. If we move him in the summer, we can still get a solid return because of his age, credentials and potential. One bad year is something he can bounce back from for sure, but two years will really lower his value. Sure, next year could be an awesome year for him and he brings up his value and the Pens could do that, but they'll have to sign him to a contract and I am worried about the cap space.
