Why not? Nuge slots in great! Plus you get Larsson, you lose big contracts, and a few great rentals. Leafs D would look better.

Philadelphia has been through hell to develop a decent goalie prospect, so they'll want to hang onto Hart. Also, once Giroux/Simmons/et al retire, Gostisbehere will be in his prime and likely a leader for them. Provorov and Konecny are decent prospects too. The only pieces of real value to them would be Draisaitl and possibly Nurse.
For Toronto, both Brown and Kadri are on absolute steal deals for what they can do, and Johnsson and Kapanen are likely to go the same way. Slight improvement from the D point of view, but Nuge and Chiasson simply don't weigh up to what they'd lose.
Those are my thoughts, anyway.

I'll speak to my team only.
A 19 year old who came into the league as 1st oa, played the entire season at #1 C and has only gotten better. An aging vet with a ntc with a year left
For
A defender that is not your own, so the trade has to happen first. He's redundant in jersey bc we have similar in vatanen, Butcher and Smith coming
