I spent all day yesterday arguing the cash, I think marner gets more than that, plus your kinda over the cap

Those Matthews and Marner contracts are 3 years only. Gives them the option to sign the big money on the 3rd contract. Club will be able to handle the higher number later, because they will be buying more RFA years, while the cap will have gone up. Players make more money over the years, the team gets a bit of flexibility now, it could work. Needs tweaking still obv with being over the cap

Gardiner will not be back eith the Leafs even though the team needs him.

Matthews will get $11.5-$12M for 8 years. Just think McDavid money.

Mathews and Marners agents laugh at you and take those deals. Opening them up for free agency is a big mistake, thier contracts at the end of those 3 years will be astronomical and they would have all the power in negotiations.

Detroit also isnt that stupid to trade an actual top 6 forward for 2 bottom 6 players
