tampa bay wont be able to afford that. they are already to close to the cap and only have 16 players under contract next year with under 8 million in cap space.

Feel like the Isles are paying a considerable premium compared to VGK and PIT. Prob even MTL too. Doesn't make sense

the retention on the trade means pietrangelo will cost less than miller

Montreal isn't going to trade for Pietrangelo. That trade wouldn't make them better than any of the 3 major teams in the Atlantic

some people think you could get more, some people think its an overpayment. But I think these are all roughly equal

I think the issue is you're seeing this as they all have X number of assets. The islanders you're getting legit top assets back. The others not so much. Ideally you get a top 6 or top 4 young player with potential, a top prospect and a pick.

I guess I don't see Maatta is a legit top 4 option, I don't see Mike Reilly as that either. Erik Haula is more of a 3rd liner type and JT miller I suppose fits the bill, but that 1st is going to be 28-31 every year. Just don't really see the value needed in these.

At least with the NYI trade you're getting a legit top prospect (I'd rather get Dobson) and another solid prospect in Bellows and a first that'll probably be in the teens.

                      Value is fair though, right?

If we were going all out, the value is definitely there.

At least with the NYI trade you're getting a legit top prospect (I'd rather get Dobson) and another solid prospect in Bellows and a first that'll probably be in the teens.

in my opinion haula is a top 6 forward and maata is a top 4 defenseman. Haula/perron have good chemistry from Vegas as well.

Haula might be, but he just had a pretty devastating knee injury. Idk how that'll play out. Maatta I'm unimpressed with.

how so? they dont lose any roster players, its only three assets instead of four

It's the quality of prospect. You're getting heads and shoulders better players than the other deals IMO

I'd do the Islanders trade followed by the Vegas trade. The others...meh.
