It's hard to see the jets doing that trade mostly because of cap space and the room they would have left.

I think Tampa will say no because they are going to be tight to the cap and a 4 million dollar cap hit on a Dman who next year will still be behind Hedman, Sergachev and McDonagh, and would be bottom pairing at highest this year is the wrong way to handle the Cap. Plus Barré-Boulet is looking like a force to be reckoned with who is NHL ready next season/down the stretch if needed. Toffoli also isn't worth that much.

Jeff Carter won't waive his no move clause, he would rather stay in LA with his family. He earned that right so you are stuck with him. Also, Jets would only take a rental player as they have to sign Liane and Connors to big deals and have cap issues already.

Jeff Carter doesn't have any no-trade or no-move protection.

I thought he did. I guess the rumor was if he got traded he might just retire as he didn't want to move his family. I still don't see the Jets doing it for cap issues after this year.

Bob McKenzie speculated that the back-diving nature of his contract would allow him to veto any trade that he wasn't happy with by threatening to retire and hit the Kings with recapture penalties, essentially giving him an informal NTC. However, aside from saying that he likes LA and doesn't want to leave, he hasn't made any statements regarding possible trades.

Makes sense, Carter can be a quality piece to the right team, but his cap issues significantly narrows his potential destinations.
