With everything i've seen, which i wont say i watch the jets religiously i would see Kyle Connor should be making more than Laine, or matching deals.

Jets fans are emotional. Both are scorers, both have extremely high career shooting percentages, both are pretty bad at holding onto the puck, and one scores at a way higher clip over his career than the other.

Well, he didn't break it, but he mighta bent it... alot of people had AM at 11.5, but with longer term. I don't have the foggiest what this means for the rfa class this year, but I have a feeling alot fo them are going to make bank.. the big german kid in edmonton seems like at steal all of a sudden..

speaking of feelings, if you think Jets fans are emotional, you haven't seen nothing.. a good percentage of us leaf fans are losing their minds over this contract!? I don't get it. we get 5 years of certainty with AM at a number that countless people have shown to work. all is well

The last time a player had been drafted first overall and established himself as one of the top centers in his conference and signed the first deal off his ELC he became the highest paid player in the NHL. It's not a huge compliment but Dubas is a better GM than Chiarelli.

Considering Matthews>Marner>Laine>Connor, I think Jets fans should be absolutely thrilled.

With the whole 5 years thing I think you guys definitely could have gotten some more term, but that's nitpicking. Congrats on signing your guy!

Cheers, Celt! And ya got a chuckle outta me for the Dubas/Chia compliment smile

I woulda liked more term too, but 5 years is still a pretty good window to have AM with certainty, and that 11.6M number has been shown to work on multple levels. Beyond that, my world doesn't change a whole lot regardless of what AM makes..

I feel like the minority around here when I say I like the cap system. It forces discipline on teams and turnover within the roster/system keeping things fresh. We'll probably lose a couple guys this summer, but oh well. Right now I'm doing my best to imagine a Leafs/Jets Stanely Cup final this year. You wanna talk about emotions? Canada migth just crack if we get to see that this year...
