Team: 2019-20 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 6, 2019
Published: Feb. 6, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Dumped Russell, Kassian, Benning, bought out Sekera. Trade for Pesce. Sign Stone. Now we have Leon+Connor first line. Nuge+Stone second line. Our 3rd and 4th lines still suck but what can you do. Our top 4 is now legit, and Jones/Bouchard can ease their way into the NHL.

Goaltending is sketchy but this is a playoff team

Just a question but instead of spending 9M on 1 player in Stone, do you think it would be better to sign two wingers like Dzingel and Silfverberg for about the same?

That would be the smarter move IMO

Rattie and chasson as top 6 wingers says it all here. I agree you need depth and some balance more than paying stone 9 million bucks.

Why on earth would Stone move from one tire fire franchise to another? He can get that $ anywhere on the open market next year - can't see him choosing Edmonton.

I'll always take one great player over 2 decent ones. That mid-range UFA signings are often the ones that come back to bite you. Stone is young, and quite frankly underrated. He doesnt score at a top 10 rate, but his effect on his team is unmatched.

At 5v5, Ottawa with:

- Mark Stone on the ice: +13 (48-35)
- Mark Stone off the ice: -43 (103-60)

That's incredible. Throw him with Nuge and I don't really care who their RW is, thats an amazing second line.

It is true that he likely won't want to come here

I agree and in most cases but this team is barren of talent after it's top 3 forwards.
