How does this trade benefit Detroit? Outside of Edmonton's 2019 1st round pick Puljujarvi has bust written all over him, Talbot is worse then Howard and is a glorified backup. Petrovic has no value. Detroit by far is giving up the best pieces here. If AA gets moved i want one of Bear/Jones coming back at least. Edmontons 1st would probably be top 10 protected so this brings little value to Detroit. We easily decline.

With the players going back to Edmonton, i was thinking top 3 protected and nothing more.
Talbot has had a down season but he has the potential, probably wont re-sign and i dont think we'd even look to re-sign him anyways. We probably just bring Howard back in the offseason. Petrovic is just to make the $$ work, he probably is gone in the offseason.
Puljujarvi is a prime canditate for a fresh start. I dont think he's a bust, i just dont think its working out in Edmonton, so we take a chance, same with Svechnikov going back their way.
That leaves us with Jensen and AA for a 1st that could be as high as 4th overall this year, or potential lottery pick the following year.

To me it makes for a decent trade in my opinion.

The Edmonton trade is beyond bad for The Wings. AA ISN'T GOING TO BE TRADED!
I'd take Howard and Jensen over Talbot and Petrovic every time.

I've a friend from Calgary and he already said that Mike Green has no desire to play in his hometown of Calgary. Besides Bennett is garbage and Calgary's 2019 1st will be late. Not nearly enough for one more year of Mike Green. Zero chance he waives to go home to Calgary when he has no desire to play there.

Interesting, i didnt know about that, i thought for sure he would want to go play there, especially with how well they are doing.

You can get a 2 and maybe a 2- and a 3 for Jensen alone who is a very underrated D.

You also get a 2 for Howard easily.

On the Edmonton end, nobody has value in that deal going back except Puljarvi, and he may only be with a late first for a team looking to take a chance or a high second to a rebuilding team looking to take a chance

I've heard similar rumblings in the past when Green was more valuable as well.

And I think Treliving isn't considering moving Bennett before the playoffs. He's been improving this year and plays an important, shall we say, "truculent", role that the Flames would benefit from during long 7-game series.

Actually Bennett has been playing much better this year, But as far as Detroit is concerned he's still a #3C for them and we've tons of those already. I've a feeling that Joe Veleno will be every bit as good as Bennett. So adding Bennett makes zero sense for us. Plus the way Calgary is playing he's more of an asset for the Flames then he would be for us.

Green for a 1st straight up?

Adding Greens experience and shot on the back end to what you already have in Mcdonough, Hedman, & Sergachev would be nuts for a cup push

Edmonton takes this trade and runs before Detroit realizes what they did.
