Description
Kapanen - Offering 4,059,322 to Kapanen would result in only loosing a 2nd round pick (PS: I was at the Lighting vs Leafs game in January he was honestly the player that impressed me the most. He has above average speed with a very fast release wrist shot. I think he would fit in perfectly with the Canadiens.

Nyquist - is a winger with tremendous wheels and elusive speed. Has fine hockey sense and vision, smooth hands and plenty of creativity. I honestly think he would fit perfectly in the Bergevin plan. He wouldn't be too expensive at a 5M cap hit.

Maatta - A defenseman with a good frame. Very good overall skills, though better defensively. A very patient player who positions himself well. Montreal is in needs a solid LD and for a small price to pay I think he could help us fill that void.

Shlemko - Buyout

Alzner - It's not realistic to think he can get traded and the buyout cost is just to high so I guess he well either be the 7th guy or play in the minors

Dept forward - From what I see here we have 3.2M in cap space for another player but I would probably use this place for a prospect inside the organization.

What do you guys think? Please comment.

I don't think Nyquist makes it to FA, either he'll be dealt at the deadline, or re-signed in DET.
I'd find it incredibly hard to imagine that the wings dont trade him and then walks for nothing.

Good luck convincing Nyquist and his agent to accept 3 years $15 million, Not remotely happening. If he'd signed that low he stay with Detroit it's just that simple. All indications are that Nyquist is seeking 5 years $30 million at the very least.

I wouldn't pay him 6 but 5.5 x 5 or something like that looks more realistic what do you think?

Yeah 5 x 5.5 is more realistic for what Nyquist will receive, But even then it's still probably with Detroit as Holland is looking at resigning him.

With the leafs cap issues they could honestly not match the Kapanen offer sheet - Good Armchair GM

Just like everyone here, Nyquist will be hard to bring to Montreal. Kapanen may be similar situation but it seems possible compared to Nyquist. I do like the idea of bringing Maatta in to help on the left-side of D, just not the way you traded Lehkonen as I think he will be great.
If I had to make a lineup, it may look like this:
Domi - Drouin - Gallagher
Tatar - Kotkaniemi - Kapanen(?)
Lehkonen - Danualt - Armia
Deslauriers - Byron - Shaw
Maatta - Weber
Mete - Petry
Benn - Juulsen
Price
Lindgren

https://www.tsn.ca/tsn-hockey-s-trade-bait-list-1.203546 he is number 8 on the trade bait list so he might go as a rental then hit FA but will see in the next few weeks how this all pans out.

Yes I like this as well. On the other hand montreal would have an extra 5-6M too potentially get a rental player at the deadline next year.

I don't like the Lehkonen deal for Maata. Lehkonen brings deepnest on the left side. Don't create a new problem to partially solve another one.

Also I don't think Mtl needs that much help on the left side even if everybody say so. Kulak and Mete are doing well there. Getting LD man creates a hole somewhere else. Mtl is not allowing a lot of shots or goals.

I like the signature of Jordie Benn for two years and I would look forward in signing and developing Romanov on the left side. Drafting two or three LD prospects with our main draft picks would be wise.

Mete is starting to play better but for a while I was quite happy when he wasn’t on the ice. Kulak is playing very well especially since he’s been playing with Benn.

I still think they need another LD now. I do like Lehkonen as well and wouldn’t mind to keep him. Hopefully he can break out soon.

Poehling Suzuki are both NHL ready, Ylonen Evans Ikonen maybe in 2 years, but you sign Kapanen & Nyquist for too long. MTL need to wait, we already have Shaw Gallagher Armia playing RW, Drouin Tatar Lehkonen LW, Domi Danault KK at Center. We dont need new players for next year, only 4th liner and LHD.
