Description

Z out for a LTIR player. Helps Toronto. Ottawa could use a D if they are trading any current D like Ceci for futures. Gards somewhere for a 1st and prospect. Could be anywhere. Ferland and Pesce are two expendable players for Carolina. Ferland is a hard hitting but skilled pending ufa Winger. Perfect. Play him with 34/29. Pesce is good D man on a fair contract. His value gets blown out of proportion due to his RHD status. He’s a solid number 4. But he can play with Rielly on the top pair as the support/stay at home guy. They get a 1st, Liljgren, Bracco and Hainsey. Fair trade in my opinion. 3 good young asset and a vet D to fill the whole for this year. This also frees up salary for a cheap team with lots of scoring talent coming up as UFAs (Duchene Stone Panarin etc)

Canes dont take it. They would want Kapanen+ just for Pesce. Also your trade would bring 4.025 mil plus on cap space. Thats a no imo.

(Also Id hate to see two of our top3 prospects leave)

I don't see the Leafs trading Z and Gards before the deadline. Gards walks at the end of the year and they trade Z in the offseason. Ottawa might do that trade if they can then flip him for something else. They will be cutting payroll like crazy next year. It is a interesting trade as Ottawa likely doesn't want to be paying for a player who isn't playing.

Is Gaborik officially done playing hockey? If the Leafs make this trade and he does come back, they are screwed.
