Pierre Lebrun Thoughts

Created by: ThatGuy
Team: 2018-19 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 8, 2019
Published: Feb. 8, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So every day that goes by, I am less and less optimistic about signing Duchene or Stone...

"Personal opinion, not saying it's going to happen, but best fits on rental market if I had a magic wand and could make it happen: Simmonds to Tampa or Boston (love him for both those teams), Panarin to Nashville, Duchene (if available) to Winnipeg, Stone (if available) to Vegas." - Lebrun

Both are fair. Blueline would look very strong in a few years.

As a preds fan, I agree with the idea of trading Fiala, 1st, and Fabbro. I would hope that we would go for Stone instead of Duchene. Stone has chemistry with Turris already and our center situation is pretty good right now.

The more I listen on the radio and read the papers, I'm getting the sense that Poile is "all in". Hopefully it will make for an exciting couple weeks.

If Sens cant sign both of them they should trade both of them. This would be a good haul back and set them up for a full rebuild. If the move Duchene and Stone, they need to move Dzingle as well

I agree.. That being said, until then, the next 2-3 years are going to suck...

Nashville has the team to do it!!!

And I agree, I really think Stone would be a better fit in Nashville.. Turris and Stone were unreal together

The more I think about it, the more I convince myself that they should trade them (Breaks my heart)... But it makes sense.

If you sign Duchene and Stone now, they're going to be on a bad team for the next 3 years. By the time the Sens are a cup contender again, they're going to be on the downhill of their careers on big contracts. Makes it hard to compete and retain other younger players

sucks for true Sens fans that they have to deal with this incompetent ownership group.

The last 16+ months has been a disaster top to bottom with how they have handled business. Hopefully Dorion doesnt screw up the TDL for you guys

I am a true Sens fan, and I really like Pierre Dorion has gm!

And yes, Melnyk is a problem.. But his wallet has suffered in the last 16 months and he's realizing that. He's been better recently, but we'll see if it keeps up

OTT passes on NSH trade, Fiala is overrated, Fabbro will not sign with OTT and leave the team and go to FA so bad deal for OTT, and pass on VGK as well unless another top 10 prospects comes back for OTT..

I dont think Dorion has had a good track record, I dont really see how he hes realizing that? Announce a rebuild in September, say that the rebuild is ahead of schedule in November...February last in the NHL then come out to say they will start to spend money to the cap in 2021. The guy is just winging it. If anything he has been botching it even further this season as an owner with is message

You're mixing up the owner and the GM.

And, I agree that the PR department hasn't been very good. But we are ahead of the curb? Rebuilding isn't about winning. It's about filling up the cupboards with Prospects (which we have) to set up the teaming for the future. LAK are in a true rebuild because they suck in the standings, and have no prospects in their system.

So saying that he doesn't have a good track record proves that you don't follow this team. Pierre Dorion specialty is drafting. If you look at his drafts history since 2015, it's unreal how well he's done. Essentially every pick has turned into a good legitimate NHL prospect.

In terms of trades:

The only one he missed was the Hoffman trade. And I think he had way too much pressure to finalize the trade ASAP by fans, players and ownership...

that they are actually rebuilding when in fact they are doing the same thing that they have always done....just be cheap and wont invest in this team. Spend to the cap in 2021. Thats bc the CBA expires then. Dont kid yourself that he will be fighting for salaries to be rolled back, etc etc.

Ok? That's what ownership said! What does that have to do with Dorion?

And how do you suppose he invests in the team?

Bc Dorion is a puppet to the media about this fake rebuild message. They have been saying they are rebuilding, not rebuilding, might rebuild, ok we are rebuilding, we are ahead of schedule in the rebuild from Feb 2018 to current day.

They have no idea what they are doing

I must have missed the "rebuilding, not rebuilding, might rebuild, ok we are rebuilding" discussions.

I mean, there was talk about maybe rebuilding in 2014, but then Andrew Hammond went on a historic run (14-0-1) to make the playoffs on the last game of the season. The message since then has been "Why not us" (knowing that Tampa and Toronto were going to be really good soon). They made some key trades and signed some veteran. Sens were competitive until last year. And once they traded Karlsson, they officially came out and said that we are rebuilding.

It seems like they Pierre knows what he's doing? Honestly, What you do differently? Cuz right now it just feels like I'm talking to a 12 years old who's trying to trolll

They said in February 2018 they made the decision to rebuild, but not trade Karlsson, then later say they will trade karlsson bc it gives them the best chance to gain assets to rebuild, but then give him an dollar amount to try to keep him but no formal contract offer or structure to it...just number and years....fiddle around all summer then forced to do something after the Hoffman stuff comes out so both are moved out. Once EK is moved, they trade them come out to say they are rebuilding, just to say they are ahead of schedule in rebuilding but still be dead last in the NHL and about to trade their 2 best players bc they wont pay to keep them.

If you cant see how they dont have a plan and are just winging this...I dont know what to tell you. THey have been messing around for 16+ months and still dont have a plan in place. They are winging this thing

I get a kick out of comments like that...oh you are just trolling. So stating actual statements that both Dorion and Eugene have said is trolling? Or do you have your head in the sand a bit and refusing to process this thing
