Plus halmarson and richardson fill the gap until poehling and romanov can take bigger responsabilities. You may even hope that richardson helps kk and peohling in learning to take face-off. Finally, the only piece you are giving who hurts a little is cale fleury, but he is third behing julsen brooks in our depth chart and therefore is likely to never make it in mtl. So it cost us a potential #4 or 5 d man to fill a gap, and help the kids be competitive. It is not what i call mortgagi g the future... Then, if julseen career is over, its another story

Exactly, a solid veteran presence like Hjallmorson who has two Stanley Cup rings and is still a competitive contributor would be pretty good to have on a young developing team. He's a massive improvement over Benn, Reilly and Kulak. Giving up a B prospect and a couple mid round picks isn't that much to lose for what a guy like Hjallmorson brings especially considering the Habs have a solid prospect pool and the team looks to have turned a corner in the right direction, adding Hjallmorson and Richardson would make them that much better and give some kids some guidance and others a bit more time to marinade in the minors or junior. Some Habs fans are way too hung up on 4th round picks, worried they're gonna miss out on the next Jonny Gaudreau diamond in the rough I guess.. Lol
