Do you think TO loses that trade? Zaitsev is terrible & Kap has only be ok the second half. Larson is a legit RHD top 4

No. I think it's pretty equal. Kapanen's versatile winger, which EDM absolutely needs. Also Zaitsev's decent enough - not a liability, unlike for example Rieder who hasn't scored a single goal this season. Zaitsev's just tad overpaid.

Larsson might be good, but at the end of the day I think this benefits both teams.

It certainly benefits the Oilers with Kapanen in it. Larsson isn't that much of an upgrade over Zaitsev to warrant Kapanen's inclusion in the deal.

Dunno man. I'd guess TOR would like to have two good d-pairs, with Muzzin-Rielly and Dermott-Larsson. Larsson fits their team pretty well - and they'd get rid of Zaitsev in that move, too.

Well it's certainly defensive pair. Although the main idea was to keep it like that and next year put Bouchard to the 1st pair, moving Spurgeon to the 2nd line.

They're actually perfect for each other. Zaitsev isn't defensive, contrary to popular belief, and needs that stay at home, can't keep up kind of player to allow him to roam and create offense which is why the Leafs signed him.

how so? Lucic is scoring at a 3rd line pace (in terms of pts/60) but i wouldnt want zaitsev as my 7th defenseman
